This hotel was originally built as a Spanish generals residence in the nineteenth century, when San Roque was a large military town. It is now a listed and protected building and we understand that during its history it has served as a Guardia Civil post and was once the area court house. Once inside you will experience and feel the atmosphere of a bygone age, from the original coloured glass windows, the marble floors and pillars, to the painted ceilings still remaining in some of the rooms. The hotel has a cosy and friendly main bar open from 7pm until late. The interior patio has recently been redecorated and refurnished, and provides a pleasant area in which to relax. There is a tv lounge and also an outside sun terrace with sun loungers, tables and chairs, plus shady areas. The hotel has 12 different rooms, some en-suite and some have shared facilities, all rooms have a washbasin, satellite television, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. All of the rooms have heating for the cooler months and either air-conditioning or a cooling fan for the summer months. The rooms on the front of the hotel all have unique antique windows glazed with coloured glass. The rooms on the rear of the hotel have nice views to the countryside. And of course, there is always duty free shopping in Gibraltar.
